Job Summary
Under direct supervision from a supervisor who is responsible for the coordination of necessary work, the designation of the supervisor being dependent on the organizational structure in the operating unit, perform skilled work in the trade of painter.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$40.00/hour
Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Successful completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship program or four (4) years (48 months) of full-time journey-level painter experience.
3. Must acquire, during probation, a valid Illinois Department of Public Health Lead Abatement Worker License (if required by the institution to be served).
4. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
2. Capable of planning work and mixing paint colorants for a variety of paints.
3. Have the ability to harmonize colors and coordinate interior or exterior patterns on maintenance or construction work.
4. Must have proficient computer skills.
5. Must have a valid state issued driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
6. Must acquire, during probation, a valid Illinois Department of Public Health Lead Abatement Worker License (if required by the institution to be served).

Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to lift 100 pounds.
2. Ability to work at a maximum height of 300 ft.
3. Ability to speak clearly.
4. Visual acuity to distinguish color to mix and match paint, coverings, etc.
5. Ability to work in confined spaces.
6. Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel.
7. Work Environment - Incumbent works both indoors and outdoors, and is may be exposed to chemicals, fumes, loud noises and extreme temperatures.

Employees are only paid for hours worked.
There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Extra Help employees are paid prevailing rate per the trade. They may work full-time hours throughout their employment as Extra Help, however they are not to exceed 900 hours.
Benefits include time away from work for eligible employees and the option to participate in the University’s 403(b) Plan
