Job Summary
This position will manage the 24/7 chilled water and power plant operations and personnel, university facilities mechanical systems and operations, the supervision of the operation and maintenance of all power plant equipment, building mechanical equipment, all HVAC related matters, and manage/supervise all building maintenance personnel (all trades under the Office of Energy Management Department personnel: Steam & Power Plant all levels, Water Station Operators, Building Automation Technicians, Refrigeration Mechanics, and Pipefitters). The position will work under administrative supervision from the Assistant Director, Office of Energy Management.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$95,000-$110,000/annual
Required Qualifications
1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
A. Coursework in engineering or architecture as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
-30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
-Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
-90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
-Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work full time (or part time equivalent) experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
3. Additional one (1) year (12 months) of full time (or part time equivalent) supervisory experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
4. Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Possession of current/valid Building Operating Engineer license; HVAC certification/license; Boiler Operating license or other mechanical-related certifications.
Work Hours
Core hours are 8am -4:30pm M-F. Other times may be required outside the core depending on the needs of the operation

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
